Ladies,
Several of you have voiced your concern that you don’t have anything “nice enough” to bring to the Swap ‘Til You Drop event. I just wanted to address that concern publicly since there are probably plenty more women who feel that way but won’t say anything.
1. You’ll get one free ticket just for showing up. You don’t have to bring a thing to come and participate.
2. Secondly, you don’t have to bring anything fancy. It’s not about name brands, formal dresses, or runway-chic. It’s about finding something in your closet that you don’t wear. It may be a sweater you got for Christmas that is just not your style. It may be a hat that you bought because you wanted to become a woman who wears hats, but it just didn’t take. It may be a purse that you got on clearance that just doesn’t have enough pockets, space or bling for your taste. A belt that you can’t stand, jeans that don’t fit, a sweater that shrunk. You see the old saying is true… “one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure.” Are you starting to get the picture? We all have a few items (some more than a few) that we never wear… why not throw them on a hanger and bring them to the Swap. You never know, you might find something you like much better.
3. After the swap we will donate all of the remaining items to Palmetto House shelter. How do we know there will be items left over? Because we’ve built it into the ticket process. Everyone who brings items will automatically be donating to Palmetto House. The shelter provides clothes and a home to those who have nothing. Isn’t there something in your closet (that you’re not using anyway) that you would like to see go to someone who has nothing?
4. This is an excellent way to get to know the women of St. Paul’s if you’re new around here. Do you have a friend, neighbor or relative who doesn’t have a church home or just needs to be around Christian women in an God-honoring atmosphere? Bring them along!
5. It’s a chance to get out of the house, eat some yummy snacks, and go shopping without spending a dime! Even if shopping isn’t your thing, surely you could use a little fellowship with Christian women. Oh, and did I mention there’s free child care?
You see the bottom line is this: This event is intended to be fun! Don’t stress! Grab someone and something from your closet (or up to 10 somethings if you really get into the spirit) that you just don’t wear… and come out for a night of FUN with your Christian sisters. Who couldn’t use a little of that these days?
God’s Blessings,
Heather
